To calculate the area and bending inertia (or second moment of area) for any airfoil section of any given dimension:

1.    Go to the Airfoil Investigation Database (click here)                                                                            

2.    Get the co-ordinates of the cross-section. Use the DAT format. (look here for example DAT file).

3.    Copy/Paste the data into the text field below (do not copy the header nor the blank spaces of the last line).

4. 4.   Adjust scale factors to acquire the required size of the cross-section. Choose solid or hollow wing.
   

5. 5.   Calculate area and bending inertia.
